Ethnic Community Building
Nationalities Service Center helps support ethnic community building to strengthen refugee and immigrant communities and guide them toward self-sufficiency.
We do this by:
- Supporting and encouraging the development of existing ethnic community leadership
- Assisting in the creation of ethnic community-based organizations
- Fostering civic participation and encouraging civic engagement within ethnic communities
- Providing community members with organizational development support
- Providing English language training for members of ethnic communities
- Supporting community-organized and -sponsored activities for youth
- Providing interpreter training to English-speaking ethnic community members to ensure that all members of the community are able to access linguistic and culturally sensitive interpreter services
