The National Partnership for Community Training in collaboration with Nationalities Service Center/Survivors of Torture and Trauma Project, Harvard Program for Refugee Trauma and Bellevue/NY Program for Survivors of Torture Presents:

Building Community Awareness: Responding to the Torture Survivor Experience

This training is designed for Social Workers, Mental Health Providers, Refugee Resettlement Agencies, Immigrant Advocacy Centers, Attorneys, University Human Rights Clinics, Physicians and Medical Providers, and Educators.  The objectives of this training are:

To increase awareness about the refugee and asylum seeking experience, including experiences of extreme trauma and torture

To introduce the concept of trauma-informed care to service providers

Discuss the utility of empathy in torture treatment services
