Match Grant Program

The Matching Grant program's goal is to help refugees, Amerasians, Cuban and Haitian entrants, asylees, and certified victims of trafficking attain economic self-sufficiency within four months after date of eligibility for the program without accessing public assistance. Henceforth, all eligible clients will be referred to as "refugees" unless the context indicates otherwise. Economic self-sufficiency means earning a total family income at a level that enables a family unit to support itself without receipt of cash assistance. Enrollment must be completed within 31 days of eligibility for the program.

NSC provides our clients with an alternative to welfare. NSC runs this program to help ensure a successful transition to self-sufficiency within four months of arrival by providing

  • special programs
  • incentives
  • job training
  • resume preparation
  • skills training
  • help in locating affordable housing
